Underage drinking is another charge commonly written in Seaside Heights. Anyone under the age of 21 caught consuming alcohol will be charged with this disorderly persons offense. The underage drinker could be caught drinking walking the streets, on the beach, at a loud house party, in a bar, club or restaurant, or in a parked car. Depending on the facts of your individual case, you could even have your driver’s license suspended for up to 6 months. Additionally, municipalities in New Jersey are authorized to write their own municipal ordinances for underage drinking which may have similar penalties to that of the New Jersey Statute.

Obtaining an attorney in these types of matters is important given the penalties.  You do not want to lose your driver’s license for six months and have the remainder of your summer ruined.   An experienced criminal attorney may be able to provide a defense to your matter given the specific facts and circumstance that allowed the police to arrest you.

2C:33-15.  Possession, consumption of alcoholic beverages by persons under legal age; penalty.
